Frequently asked questions
Getting started
I’m a total beginner. Can I really start from zero?
Yes. Most students start without knowing a single Korean letter. By the end of Week 1, you’ll introduce yourself in Korean out loud. By Month 1, you’ll catch words in K-drama. No prior experience needed.
How is this different from Duolingo or other apps?
Duolingo is built around tapping. Everyday Korean is built around speaking. Every lesson asks you to say the phrase out loud, in your own voice. Tapping won’t teach your mouth how to move. Speaking will.
What time is the lesson every day?
Your daily lesson lands in your inbox each morning, but there is no set class time. Open it whenever fits your day: on the train, with coffee, before bed. Most students take 10 to 15 minutes.
What if I miss a day?
Nothing breaks. The next day’s lesson still arrives in your inbox, and your previous days stay unlocked. The goal is consistency over perfection. Even 3 days a week beats one big weekend cram.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. One click in your account, no calls, no emails, no hoops. Your access continues until the end of your billing period.
Billing and cancelling
How do I pay, and what happens on renewal?
Payments on the website are processed by Stripe; subscriptions bought inside the iOS app are processed by Apple through your App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Full detail is in the Terms of Service, section 4.
Can I get a refund?
If you’re unhappy after your first paid workshop, contact us within 7 days for a full refund. After 7 days of a billing period we don’t refund that period. You can still cancel, and access continues to the end of it.
How do I turn off auto-renew on iPhone?
In your device’s Settings, open your Apple ID, then Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops the renewal; it does not remove access you have already paid for.
Your account and your data
What do you collect, and why?
Your name and email, a phone number if you want SMS or WhatsApp reminders, your timezone, and payment information handled by Stripe or Apple. We never store card details. It is used to run the classes you signed up for and to send the reminders you asked for. The Privacy Policy lists every third party involved.
How do I stop the reminder messages?
Reply STOP to any SMS or WhatsApp message, or use the unsubscribe link in any email. Messages about a class you have booked are separate from marketing, and you can opt out of either.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Write to hi@everydaykorean.org and we will delete it. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold, or have it corrected, at any time.
